Remember when we had to choose between crimp-on and compression connectors for RG6?
Back in the early 2000s, the shop I worked for in Phoenix switched from the old crimp-on F connectors to the newer compression style. I had to pick which tool kit to invest my own cash in, about $150 for a good crimper versus over $300 for a compression tool. I went with the compression tool, even though it hurt the wallet. It was the right call, the connections were just more solid and reliable in the long run, especially in the attic heat. Anyone else make that switch back then and stick with it?

Oh man, that takes me back. Honestly, I did the exact same thing and just bit the bullet for the compression tool. It was a huge chunk of change at the time, but I never regretted it. Those crimp connectors would always seem to get loose or corrode after a few hot summers. The compression ones just held up so much better, especially on outdoor runs. Totally worth the upfront pain.

Yeah the "huge chunk of change" part is real. I put it off for a year. Finally got one after a bad crimp on a security light failed in the rain. Whole camera system went down. That was the last straw. Compression fittings since then, zero issues. Tool paid for itself.

Whole system going down is the worst.
