That job in the old brick building downtown made me rethink my drill bits.
I was trying to mount a drop in a 1920s apartment and burned through two standard masonry bits before a guy on-site handed me a Bosch Bulldog. Has anyone else found a specific bit that handles those super hard, old bricks better?

Yeah, those old bricks are basically concrete. I keep a set of Bosch MultiConstruction bits just for pre-war jobs now. They cost more but they last.

My buddy learned that the hard way last week.

Honestly, I used to just grab whatever cheap masonry bit was on sale. Figured a hole was a hole. Then I tried to put up a shelf in my own place, a 1910 build, and completely destroyed a brand new bit in about thirty seconds. Swore a lot, went to the hardware store, and the guy there talked me into a single Milwaukee bit that cost as much as a whole cheap set. It went through that brick like butter and I still have it. Total game changer for old buildings.
