Had three people bring in old film cameras last week, all found in attics after a relative passed away.

My aunt had a box of old cameras. I took them to a local camera shop that does free appraisals. The guy there showed me how to check for fungus in the lenses and test the shutters. One was actually worth getting CLA'd, the others were just cool display pieces.

That part about the shop showing you how to check for fungus and test shutters is so cool. I used to assume those places just wanted to buy stuff cheap or sell you things. But a guy at a shop near me once spent twenty minutes explaining why an old light meter of mine was acting up, no charge. It totally changed how I see local shops. They actually care about keeping old gear alive. What did your aunt think when you told her one was worth fixing up?
