I finally gave up on this one guy's CLA method
Read a post from some repairer in Portland saying to never remove the shutter curtain for cleaning because you'll mess up the tension - tried it his way for 6 months and got constant light leaks. Anyone else found their advice just doesn't work on certain models like the F2?

Last spring I tried that Portland guy's method on a beat up F2 and ended up with a light leak that looked like someone shot the camera with a pellet gun. Turns out leaving the shutter curtain in place and just blowing air through the mechanism worked fine for me after all. Made myself look like a real idiot chasing his advice for months when the simple fix was right there.

Shot the camera with a pellet gun" yeah that's exactly how mine looked too. I used to think you had to go all in on those complicated YouTube tutorials. Thought if you weren't taking apart every piece you were doing it wrong. But after a few ruined cameras I realized simple is better. Now I just do a basic clean with a blower and call it good. Your post really drove it home for me. Half the time we're making things harder than they need to be.
