Just blew $150 on a 'universal' shutter repair kit that didn't fit anything

I got excited by the listing saying it worked for a bunch of older SLRs, but the parts were just slightly off for the three different models I tried it on. Ended up having to order the correct parts anyway and wasted a whole afternoon. Has anyone found a decent source for specific vintage shutter blades, or do you just have to cannibalize donors?

That universal kit sounds like a common trap for old Pentax cameras.

Ouch, that's a rough one. Logan658 is right about those kits being a trap for Pentax stuff. I've had decent luck finding exact blades on eBay by searching the specific camera model number, but it's a waiting game. Cannibalizing donors is often the only real fix for less common bodies.

Check the old repair manuals online... sometimes they list a part number for the blades that @logan658 might not know about.

Yeah, that whole donor parts thing @jordancarr mentioned is just how everything works now.
