That guy who yelled at me about lens grease still haunts me
Last summer at a camera swap in Portland, this old repair guy saw me open a 50mm and just started laying into me about using the wrong type of grease on the helicoid. He pulled out his own tube from his pocket and made me sniff it to compare... turns out he was right, my stuff was way too thin. Anyone else have a run-in with a repair veteran who changed how you work?

Haha, nothing like a stranger's pocket grease to change your whole approach to lens repair. Guess you gotta respect the guy who carries around a lifetime supply of helicoid lube just in case.

Three minutes with a grimy Q-tip and suddenly I'm part of some stranger's legacy of helicoid maintenance. @the_paul makes a good point though, the guy clearly planned for this exact moment his whole life.
