That old timer's solvent advice saved my shutter blades
A retired guy from a local shop in Denver told me to stop using contact cleaner on sticky shutter blades and try naptha instead. Damn if he wasn't right, it dissolved the old grease without leaving any film and I didn't have to rebuff anything after. Anyone else ditched the fancy sprays for plain solvent?
Ha, naptha is the old school secret for sure! I've been using it on sticky leaf shutters for years, just a tiny brush and let it flash off. Never had a problem with it leaving streaks on the blades either.
