The lens board on my beat-up Speed Graphic taught me more than any tutorial
Picked up a 1947 Speed Graphic at an estate sale near Eugene for $60, and the front lens board had this thick, uneven coat of paint from some old repair. After I stripped it down, I noticed the original screw holes were wallowed out, so someone had redrilled them off-center, and that tiny offset made the whole focus scale sit wrong. I ended up shimming it with a soda can shim, and now it's sharper than my modern setup. Anyone else find that older repairs leave clues that newer gear just hides?
