Trying to fix a stuck shutter with a toothpick versus a proper spudger was a terrible idea

I was working on an old Nikon FM2 and the shutter curtain was stuck, so I tried gently prying with a wooden toothpick instead of grabbing my plastic spudger from the bench. The toothpick snapped off inside the mechanism, and I spent the next two hours under a loupe trying to fish it out with tweezers, lol. Anyone have a better trick for when you're caught without the right tool?

I mean, maybe try a piece of fishing line next time.

Just make sure it's the invisible kind, not the neon green stuff.

Works better than dental floss.
