Why does a simple shutter button swap take me 4 hours every single time
Went to replace a sticky shutter button on a Canon AE-1 last Tuesday and ended up fighting with a tiny spring that shot across the bench, found it under the fridge 3 hours later. Has anyone else spent most of a day on what should be a 20 minute fix, or am I the only one who loses parts in the grease pit?

Man, I felt this in my bones. But let me ask you something real: did you actually find the spring and put it back in, or did you just shove a random one in there and call it a day? Because I once spent six hours on a Pentax light seal kit, found the old light trap foam under my workbench two weeks later, and realized the new one I'd installed was from a totally different camera model. The shutter button swap is never the actual problem, it's the moment you decide to "just clean the contacts while I'm in there" that turns a quick job into an all-nighter. What was the actual trigger this time, the spring launch or something else that made you go down the rabbit hole?
