Can we talk about how a $20 foam sleeping pad upgrade changed my whole trip?

Swapped my old thin pad for a 3-inch thick foam one before a week in the Smokies, and I actually slept through the night. Anyone else find a cheap piece of gear that made a huge difference?

Totally stealing @price.ben's sit pad pillow idea. My neck was killing me from using a lumpy stuff sack. That extra inch of foam makes a huge difference for basically no weight.

Ever try those cheap foam sit pads? I cut one down for a backpacking pillow and it was a total game changer. No more stuffing clothes in a sack that slides away all night. It weighs nothing and costs like five bucks. That little bit of support made mornings way better.

Honestly the "slides away all night" part is too real. I used a stuff sack for years and it was a constant battle. Tbh I never thought of cutting up a sit pad for that. That's actually genius because you can use the rest of it to sit on. Might have to try this before my next trip.
