Changed my mind about ultralight sleeping pads after a terrible night at Glacier

I used to think those inflatable sleeping pads under 1 pound were just overpriced air mattresses. Then I tried a friend's Exped after my foam pad left me on cold ground all night at Glacier National Park last August. The R-value was way higher than I expected, like around 4.5, and I actually slept through the night without waking up frozen. That one good night convinced me to spend the $150 on a proper ultralight pad with insulation built in. Now I get why people rave about them. Has anyone else switched from foam to inflatable and seen a big difference?

Yeah spending more on stuff you sleep on usually pays off.

Nah, foam pads never fail, inflatables just pop when you need them most.

Honestly, is it that deep? Sleep however you want.
