I hauled a 7 lb stove up Mount Si for 3 years before I finally weighed my whole pack
Turns out my pack was 41 lbs for a 2 night trip and half of it was gear I never touched. Now I lay everything out on the garage floor in Tacoma a week before I go and cut anything I didn't use last time, which dropped me to 26 lbs without buying a single new item. Curious how much weight you all are willing to carry before it stops being fun?
The garage floor layout is the best tip in here. I do the same thing but I keep a little tally taped to the shelf, so next trip I know what got left in the pack untouched. My cutoff is around 30 lbs for a weekend. Past that I'm not having fun anymore, I'm just carrying stuff.
