Question about those fancy titanium sporks I saw all over YouTube
I was sure those $25 titanium sporks were just hype from influencers trying to sell stuff, but after breaking my third plastic one on a trip to Shenandoah last month, I finally caved and bought one. Honestly, it's held up through 8 meals so far without a scratch, which is way more than I expected from such a light piece of gear. Has anyone else found a piece of gear that actually lived up to the online hype?

Yo, for real though! I saw a video from some gear reviewer where they put one of those titanium sporks through a bench vise and it barely dented. Made me rethink all the hype. I've been using a simple stainless steel spoon from a thrift store for like 5 years now and it's still going strong, but I guess the weight thing is legit for backpacking. My buddy's got one of those sporks and he swears by it for stirring his instant coffee without it bending like a cheap fork. Honestly though, I'm still a bit skeptical about the price, but sounds like yours is holding up way better than those plastic ones ever did. Maybe I'll grab one next time I see them on sale.

Why would anyone pay that much for a titanium spork when a stainless steel one from the thrift store costs a dollar and works just as good for 99% of camping trips? I get that it's lighter but unless you're counting every gram for a thru-hike, that extra cash could go toward actual food or gear that matters more. Seen too many people burn money on this stuff then complain about being broke, feels like paying for bragging rights more than function.

Isn't it funny how we'll pay premium for anything that promises to not break in a world full of cheap junk?
