Spent 6 months with a whisperlite then switched to a pocket rocket for a week in the Smokies
The whisperlite was bulletproof but took forever to boil, so I grabbed a pocket rocket for my last trip and honestly the extra speed was worth trading some durability, has anyone else found one stove type just fits their style better?

Yeah the Pocket Rocket's not really more durable, just faster.

Whoa wait, you're saying the Pocket Rocket isn't really that much more durable than a Whisperlite?

Exactly. The Pocket Rocket boils water fast but it's built like a toy compared to the Whisperlite. That thin metal burner and plastic valve won't last a season of heavy use, let alone years like the MSR. The Whisperlite might be slower but you can abuse it and it'll still fire up every time.
