Swore by a heavy 3 burner stove for car camping until it dumped rain on me at Lake George
I've been hauling a big 3 burner propane stove on every car camping trip for like 5 seasons because I thought more burners meant better meals. Last month at Lake George it poured for two days straight and that heavy steel beast was a nightmare to keep lit and dry under a tarp while I fought to cook breakfast. A guy two sites over had a simple little canister stove going in like 30 seconds and was eating hot eggs while I was still messing with a soggy wind screen. That was my lightbulb moment. I realized I was packing for a tailgate party, not a campout, and the gear was running my trip instead of the other way around. I tried a $45 two burner folding stove on the next trip and cooked the exact same meals in half the setup time. So anybody else ditch the big stove for something smaller, or am I late to this one?
