A protest at my school turned into a shouting match over a guest speaker's old tweets

They invited a journalist to campus, but a student group found some posts from 2012 and demanded the event be canceled. The administration let it happen, but the Q&A was just people yelling over each other for 20 minutes. Has anyone else seen a talk derailed like this over old social media?

That "decade-old blog posts" thing hits home. I used to be all for digging up old posts to hold people accountable. Then I saw a good teacher get run off over jokes that just don't land the same way now. It made me see how this kind of digging often just shuts down any real talk.
