My old protest photos went viral, now I delete faces before posting

I used to snap crowd shots at campus rallies and upload them raw, back in 2015 at UW-Madison. Then last spring I saw a student get doxxed over a sign she held at a counter-protest, some troll traced her ID from a campus directory pic. Now I spend 20 minutes per photo blurring faces, names, even backpack logos before I share anywhere. It feels like censorship but it's just basic safety, nobody asks for their face to become a meme or a job risk. Has anyone else stopped posting unedited crowd images after seeing someone get targeted?
