My professor told me to just 'ignore the protesters' and go to class, so I did and missed the biggest campus debate of the semester.
I listened to him for 3 weeks until a buddy sent me a video of the free speech rally I walked right past, and now I'm stuck watching 2 hours of YouTube clips hoping to catch up.

Same thing happened to me with a guest speaker last semester. So annoying.

Ugh honestly that hits too close to home. I feel like some guests just come in with a prepared speech and treat the Q&A like a formality, not an actual conversation. Like they already have their talking points and nothing's gonna budge them off it, no matter how good the question is. It's even worse when you can tell the professor is trying to get them to engage but they just won't bite. Makes you wonder why they even agreed to come if they weren't gonna actually talk to people.

Wait, did the speaker just totally dodge questions or was it more like they gave short, vague answers that didn't really say anything? I'm curious if there was a specific moment where they shut down a good question or if it was just a general vibe of not wanting to engage. Did anyone try to push back or did everyone just let it slide?
