Paid $200 for a campus free speech zone permit. Denied 3 hours later.
Applied for a guest speaker slot at State U. They took my money, then said my topic was too controversial. Didn't even get a refund. Anyone else have the admin pull something shady with event fees?

Man, that's rough. They basically took your money and said "nope, too spicy for us." It's like paying for a parking spot only to find they towed your car anyway. Reminds me of how every store now wants you to download their app for a deal, then hits you with five popups before you can even see the sale prices. Just another example of rules that exist to be obstacles, not solutions.

Hey @gray_morgan, ever tried emailing their support with "cancel my account" in the subject line?

...and they kept the 200 bucks? That's the part that gets me. What was your topic exactly? Like was it something genuinely dangerous, or was it just something the admin doesn't personally agree with? Because I've seen schools claim "public safety" or "disruption" just to shut down views they don't like. Makes me wonder if the permit fee itself is just a way to price people out before they even start.
