The 'heckler's veto' just killed a talk at my college over a flyer

A group tried to host a speaker on campus last Thursday about media bias. They put up flyers with a quote from the speaker calling some news 'fake'. By Friday, someone had reported the flyers as 'hate speech' to the admin. The event got canceled because the school said they couldn't guarantee safety due to the 'inflammatory material'. The speaker never even got to talk. Has anyone seen a protest get shut down before it even started like this?

What did the flyer actually say? We got our event back by demanding the specific policy violation in writing.

Yeah, getting shut down over a talk is rough. My buddy had that happen last year, and like emmam89 said, they only fixed it after he made them point to the exact rule he broke.

Wait, they canceled it over a quote they didn't even write themselves?
