Just realized the 'okay to laugh?' rule depends on whether you're in the room
When my buddy's mom passed last month, I had to choose between telling a dark joke at the wake or keeping my mouth shut, and I picked the joke because her own sister started it, but then my cousin overheard and gave me a look that made me wonder if I should've just laughed silently instead, so has anyone else had to pick between being honest with humor or playing it safe in a room full of strangers?
