Saw a bumper sticker at the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels that had me stuck in the lot for 10 minutes
Stopped for gas and a brisket sandwich and there's this pickup with a sticker that reads "my other car is also a bad decision." I laughed, then felt bad for laughing because the guy next to me was taking it real personal, like it was aimed at his truck. I get that dark humor is a way to cope, but where's the line between a joke and something that just makes the parking lot tense? Is a self roasting sticker like that fair game, or do we leave it off the bumper?
Where's the line between a joke and something that just makes the parking lot tense" is doing a lot of work here. A bumper sticker on a stranger's truck isn't a joke aimed at anyone in particular, it's just a thing the owner finds funny about their own life. The guy taking it personal is the one who brought the tension, not the sticker. Plenty of us cope with bad choices by laughing at them and slapping a magnet on the tailgate, and nobody owes the guy in the next space a safe space over it.
