Why does nobody mention the 4 second rule for dark jokes at open mic
Did a set at a bar in Cleveland two weekends ago and my Holocaust joke died until I paused for 4 full seconds before the punchline. Room went from dead quiet to nervous laughs and then real ones. Turns out the silence tells the crowd you know it's heavy, and they relax. Anyone else timing their pauses on purpose or is that just me overthinking it?
