A stranger's critique changed how I write comment replies
Last month in a local politics group, someone called me out for always writing walls of text. They said my points got buried. I started keeping replies under 5 sentences and linking a doc for the long version. More people actually read my stuff now. Has anyone else changed their posting style after direct feedback?
Oh man, yes! I got told in a book club group that I sounded like I was giving a lecture every time. I used to quote whole paragraphs back at people before saying anything. Now I just pick one line from their post and say my piece on that, then stop. It's wild how much more engagement I get when I dont try to cover every single angle. Feels like people actually wanna talk to me now instead of running away from my essay.
