Got dragged online for a joke I made at a party in Portland last Thursday
I told a stupid joke at a friend's birthday dinner, nothing mean, just dumb. Someone recorded it on their phone and put it on Twitter without asking me. I woke up to 40 angry messages calling me a terrible person. Has anyone else had a private moment blown up like that?

That "private moment" thing always gets me... I read once that phones at parties are basically ticking time bombs.

@nancyjones more like phones catch real moments that people want to pretend never happened.

Funny you say that, @the_piper, but isn't the real problem that people just don't want to own up to their own choices? You can't blame the phone for catching a bad decision you made at 2 AM. The moment happened, you were there, and now there's proof. That's not the phone's fault - that's just called being responsible for your actions. If anything, phones are keeping people honest, not ruining their lives.
