Had to choose between defending a friend's old tweet or staying quiet at work

I stayed quiet, and now our whole team chat is awkward because someone dug up a 2014 joke. Anyone else had a situation blow up from something that old?

Digging up 2014 stuff is wild. I saw a guy get in trouble for a forum post from when we were all in high school.
