Hot take: My old neighbor's yard sign got him fired in 5 days, not 5 minutes
I live in a small town outside Boise and last summer a retired guy two houses down put up a sign in his yard about a local school board vote. I walked past it every morning with my dog. Day one it was just a sign. Day three somebody had keyed the word "hate" into his truck door. Day five his wife told my wife he got let go from his part time job at a hardware store, and the owner said it was because customers complained. I am not saying the sign was smart or nice, he was kind of a grump about it. But what got me was the speed. Five days from a piece of cardboard to a lost paycheck in a town of 8,000 people. I keep wondering if the store owner caved or if he really had a line he would not cross. Has anyone here seen a small town blowup like that? I want to know if the fast ones are always local or if it takes the internet to really end someone.
