The church board member who got fired for a 4 year old tweet
Last month a woman in my Bible study group got kicked off the church board because someone found a tweet she posted back in 2021 about a political candidate. The tweet was dumb, sure, she admitted she was angry that day and posted something snarky. But she'd apologized for it two years ago when it first got some local attention. Now somebody dug it up again and made a whole thing about it. Our pastor held a meeting last Tuesday and said the board voted 6 to 1 to remove her because they didn't want the church to look bad on social media. She's been volunteering with the youth group for 3 years and everyone there loves her. I feel like this is cancel culture creeping into the church, and the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Has anyone else seen a local group or organization ruin someone's reputation over old posts that were already handled?
