Just realized my local library's DVD section is down to 40 titles from like 400 back in 2016
I go to the Rosewood branch every couple weeks to grab shows since I cut cable, and the shelves keep getting thinner. Six or seven years ago there were aisles of box sets, and now it's one sad rack by the returns desk. Turns out it's a mix of streaming and the library putting money into hotspots and laptops instead. Is anyone else's library still stocking shows worth saving, or should I just give up on physical media?
Same thing happened at my branch over on Maple. They used to have two full rows of nothing but TV seasons and now it's like one half shelf shoved next to the tax forms. I remember grabbing all of Breaking Bad and The Wire there for free back in the day, and last time I checked it was mostly old workout DVDs and a random copy of The King of Queens season 2. The librarian told me the disc budget got moved to hotspots and a 3D printer, which is cool and all but come on. I still swing by hoping somebody dumps a good box set in the donation bin.
