Update: my DVR cut off the finale with 4 minutes left and I had to beg a neighbor for his login

So this happened on Sunday night, and I am still annoyed about it. I set my cable box to record the two hour finale of that show I have been glued to since season one, and the thing stopped at 1 hour 56 minutes. The screen just froze on the guy about to say who did it, and then it dumped me back to the guide. Here is the dumb part: the DVR was set for the old time slot because the network moved it up 15 minutes a couple weeks back, and my box never updated. I called support and the lady said she could not do anything, so I walked over to my neighbor Gary's place at 10 at night and asked if I could use his streaming login to watch the end. He said yes but made me sit through the last 3 minutes with him talking over it. Now I am setting every recording to run 20 minutes past the end time, and I check the guide every Sunday morning like a paranoid person. Does anyone else pad their recordings, and if so how much extra do you add? I want to know if 20 minutes is enough or if I should just switch to watching everything a day late.
