I thought that guy deserved to lose his job over one dumb tweet, then I read his apology
Six months ago I was all for people getting fired over old tweets. Then a teacher in Ohio got canned for a joke she made in 2014, and I figured she had it coming. But I read her 900 word apology letter, and it was not some PR thing. She named the exact tweet, explained what she meant at the time, and said flat out that she would not defend it now. What got me was that she never once blamed the people who dug it up. She just said she had changed and asked for a chance to keep teaching. I still think some posts should have real fallout, but does a single bad joke from 10 years ago have to end a whole career? Curious if anyone here has changed their mind the same way.
