Paid $400 for a "reputation fixer" after I got let go in Phoenix, and all he did was tell me to post more

This was 2 years ago and I still get mad thinking about it. He promised to get my side out there after a dumb tweet got me fired, then ghosted me once the retainer cleared, so has anyone actually found someone legit for this or is it all a scam?
