Canned clams made my chowder taste like the coast, even in Ohio
Last winter we got snowed in for 4 days outside of Columbus and I had a pantry full of canned goods but no fresh fish. I threw together a chowder with canned clams, cream of potato soup, and a can of corn, plus some butter and pepper. It tasted like something from a seafood shack on the Cape, not a kitchen in the Midwest. My husband asked for seconds and I felt like a genius for under three bucks a bowl. Has anyone else found a canned ingredient that unexpectedly nails a fresh food flavor?
