Chili showdown: canned vs homemade-batch, no contest
Tried one of those $2.50 canned chilis last Tuesday after swearing by my own 5-can recipe for years. The canned one had that weird tinny aftertaste and way too much salt, plus the beans were mushy. Anyone else find that a quick mix of diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and corn with your own spices beats any brand out of the can?
My last 2 dollar can from Wolf was actually pretty decent, but I always doctor it up with extra cumin and a splash of hot sauce before it hits the bowl. Homemade wins on texture for sure, but on a busy night that can gets me dinner on the table in ten minutes flat.
