Just learned my grandma's tuna casserole trick was right all along

She always said to drain the canned peas and add them last. Tried mixing them in wet once. Turned the whole dish into gray mush. Never again.

My buddy Steve tried saving time once mixing everything together raw before baking. Ended up with what he called "depression casserole" that even his dog wouldn't touch.

Respectfully disagree with the dog comment though. Sometimes those weird experimental casseroles surprise you if you let them sit overnight in the fridge. The flavors blend together and it ends up tasting better the next day. I'd give Steve's depression casserole a second chance before writing it off completely.

Honestly that "depression casserole" name is kinda perfect because I made something similar once and called it sadness soup.
