Just tried adding a can of pumpkin to my chili and it changed everything
I threw in a 15 oz can of plain pumpkin puree into my usual canned chili recipe last night because I was out of beans and figured why not. It made it way thicker and added a little sweetness that balanced the canned tomatoes and spices perfectly. Has anyone else tried mixing canned fruits or veggies into savory stuff like this?

Oh sure, just casually reinventing chili while the rest of us are out here sweating over the perfect bean to meat ratio. Next thing you'll tell me you tossed in a handful of frozen peaches and called it "sweet heat." Pumpkin in chili is basically the culinary equivalent of putting a sweater on a dog. Does it work? Sure, but everyone's gonna look at you funny. Did you at least try it with some crushed up corn chips on top to balance the weirdness?

Read somewhere pumpkin is actually a traditional southern chili ingredient.
