Shoutout to the dollar store for saving my chili night

Ran into the one on 5th street before a storm hit last month, grabbed 4 cans of their store brand beans and a can of diced tomatoes for under 3 bucks total. The chili came out better than the stuff I make with name brands, seriously. Anybody else find random gold in the off-brand canned section?

Trust me, I get it. Store brand stuff gets a bad rap but sometimes it just hits different. Glad your chili night worked out, nothing worse than a storm ruining a good meal plan.

Man, @evahenderson, you nailed it with the storm ruining meal plans part. There's something about losing power that makes you realize how much you lean on the fridge and stove, you know? I've been there more than once, and it always messes with the whole week when you gotta toss stuff. Store brand or not, chili that actually gets eaten is a win in my book, especially when the weather's being a jerk. Glad your night turned out alright, honestly that's the best outcome you can hope for in that situation.
