So I looked up the sodium content in a single can of soup and it changed how I feel about my pantry meals

Dude, 'a little extra salt' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Have you actually looked at the label on a can of Campbell's chicken noodle? One serving is like half your daily recommended intake, and nobody eats half a can of soup. It's more like your whole day's worth of sodium in a single bowl along with some noodles. Your mileage may vary, but I remember doing that math once for a can of Progresso and almost choked on my spoon. It's like they're trying to pickle you from the inside out.

Read the American Heart Association actually recommends no more than 2,300mg a day, which one soup bowl can blow past easily.

Wait, is eating a little extra salt really that big of a deal though?
