The canned green bean trick that finally got my kid to eat vegetables
I tried for like 2 years to get my 6 year old to eat green beans from a can, and she would just push them around her plate. Last week I dumped a can of French style green beans into a skillet with a tablespoon of butter and some garlic powder, and I let them get slightly brown and crispy on the edges. She actually asked for seconds, which has literally never happened with any veggie before. Has anyone else had luck with a specific way of cooking canned beans that actually makes them taste better?

Garlic powder is honestly the secret weapon here. A little crisp on the edges changes everything (makes them not taste so mushy). Butter helps too, obviously.

Whoa hold up, French style? I always just get the regular cut green beans and never even thought about the French style ones being better for crisping up. That makes total sense though since they're already thin and kind of shredded looking. I bet they get way more of that crunchy edge because there's more surface area touching the pan. My kid is the same way with vegetables, just pushes them around like they're trying to hide them from me. I gotta try this with the French style ones next time, but I also wonder if draining them really well first helps with getting that browning action.
