Took me 3 hours to open a can of beans with a manual can opener that was actually broken

I kept blaming the can for like 20 minutes before I realized the little wheel on my opener wasn't even turning. Has anyone else had a tool fail on them and just assume they forgot how to open a can?

Read somewhere that 70% of kitchen tools fail because people don't check them first lol.

Dude YES. I had this garlic press once that I SWORE was defective. Spent like ten minutes cursing at it, smashing cloves, getting nothing but mush. Then I realized there was a little plastic plug thing I never took off the bottom. Felt like a complete idiot. Most of the time it's me not reading the directions or just rushing through things. That 70% stat sounds about right honestly. People want to blame the tool so bad when really they just skipped the simple step.

Nah, I'm gonna push back on this one. A broken can opener is pretty obvious the second you try to turn it. The wheel either spins or it doesn't. Twenty minutes blaming the can sounds like a personal problem, not a tool failure. Maybe you just need to slow down and actually look at what you're doing instead of assuming the universe is out to get you.
