Got told my emails were too direct, but I think being blunt saved me time

Had a boss pull me aside after 6 months and say I came off as rude in written communication, so I started adding fluff like hope this helps and let me know your thoughts. Problem is, now people take twice as long to respond because they think there's room to negotiate instead of just answering the yes or no I needed.

Got to disagree, keeping it direct saves more time than worrying about hurt feelings.

Huh, did the fluff actually help or just make things slower?

Yeah @phoenix_lewis, the fluff just slowed everything down. Now I strip out the filler but add a quick "let me know if you need anything else" at the end, keeps it direct without sounding like a robot.
