Hot take: Getting yelled at by a surgeon in the OR at 3 AM made me start writing everything down.
Now I carry a tiny notebook in my scrub pocket and jot down every med order and time, because my word against his over a missed dose isn't a fight I can win.

That's just letting them win though, you gotta stand your ground sometimes.

Man, I gotta disagree with @drew_jones31 here. Standing your ground can just make things worse for no real gain. Like, if your neighbor is mad about a tree branch, is a years-long feud worth it? Or at work, digging in over a tiny detail in a meeting just kills the mood and wastes time. Picking your battles means you save your energy for stuff that actually matters. Sometimes walking away is the smarter win.

My old neighbor and I almost went to court over a fence post being two inches on his side. After six months of stress, I just moved it. Cost me an afternoon and saved thousands in lawyer fees. You're right, some hills are just not worth dying on. Save the real fights for when someone tries to screw you over on something big.
