Yeah it's funny you say that. I was at this coffee shop last week and this guy just sat in the corner for like two hours. He wasn't on his phone or anything, just watching people come and go. At first it was kind of weird, but then I realized he was probably just... taking it all in. He ended up sketching something in a notebook. Makes you wonder what he saw that the rest of us missed while we were staring at our screens.

Tech conferences are great for watching how people actually connect. Everyone focuses on handing out business cards. But the real connections happen in the hallway between talks. Saw a guy just listening to a group, then asking one good question. He got three follow-up emails the next day without pitching anything. It's about being interested, not interesting.
