Just realized the $300 I paid a resume writer did more for me than 4 years of college
I got laid off from a logistics job in Columbus back in March and sent out 60 applications with my old resume. Got 2 calls back in 6 weeks, both for jobs paying less than what I was making. My wife talked me into paying $300 for a resume writer, which felt like setting money on fire at the time. She rewrote the whole thing, cut it from 3 pages to 1, and got rid of the 'responsible for' lines I had been using since I was 22. I got 5 interviews in the next 2 weeks, and the job I took pays $9k more than the one I lost. The part that bugs me is that the skills were always there, I just could not explain them on paper. Has anyone else paid for one of these and felt weird about how well it worked?
