Wait, hold on. Your buddy in Denver? That's the part that got me. I've heard that saying a million times, but for some reason knowing it came from a guy in Denver makes it feel weirdly specific and true. Like, is there something in the mountain air that makes work friends easier? My experience has been the total opposite, it's always felt like a weird game. Maybe I need to move.

Maybe the altitude just makes everyone too tired for office politics.

Found that just being direct about small stuff worked. Like, if someone took my lunch from the fridge, I'd just ask the group chat. No drama, just "hey, my sandwich is gone." Stopped playing the guessing game about who was annoyed. It made the whole vibe more about the work and less about the mind-reading.
