My side gig turned into a real job and it messed up my plan

Took a weekend side project in Phoenix last fall. Paid $800. Then they kept calling. Now it's 20 hours a week on top of my regular work and I'm burned out. I never told my boss because I thought it was temporary. Has anyone else had a side hustle grow past the point of control? How do you cut it off without killing the cash flow?
