Paid $200 for a resume rewrite service and got a worse version of what I already had
I was stuck applying to jobs for 3 months with nothing. So I dropped $200 on one of those fancy resume rewrite places online. They sent back something that sounded like a robot wrote it. Full of buzzwords like "synergy" and "optimization" that I never use in real life. I got zero interviews from that version. Has anyone else wasted money on a resume service that actually made things worse?

Those places just run your resume through some template generator and call it a day.

Is it really that deep though?

Saw a post on LinkedIn from a recruiter who said those services usually just keyword-stuff your resume with trending terms. They apparently use the same templates for everyone, so you end up sounding like every other applicant. My cousin tried one and her new resume literally said "results-driven professional" three times in one paragraph. She went back to her old version and started getting callbacks again.

Three times in one paragraph (classic) - @juliarodriguez this is just like those meal kit services that all use the same three spices.
