Realized I was overcomplicating my resume after talking to a recruiter at Google
For years I thought I had to cram every single job duty into my resume to look qualified. Then a recruiter named Sarah at a career fair in Austin told me most hiring managers spend under 10 seconds scanning for key results, not responsibilities. She showed me her own resume with just 4 bullet points per job and numbers like increased revenue 20%. Now I cut all the fluff and my callback rate went up way faster.

That recruiter Sarah nailed it. I did the same thing with my sales resume - used to list every cold call detail until a mentor told me to just show the numbers. Cut it to 5 bullets with specific revenue gains and my interview requests tripled in two months.

That recruiter Sarah's advice about focusing on 4 bullet points is solid but 4 might be too few for some people... I've seen hiring managers expect around 5 to 8 for experienced roles depending on the industry. The key is really about results over duties like she said.
