That $2,000 'career accelerator' course was a complete waste for me

I saw an ad for an online program promising to fast-track me to a management role. I signed up last fall, paid the full fee upfront, and spent three months on it. The content was just repackaged blog posts you could find for free, and the 'exclusive' networking group was totally dead. I feel like I got tricked into paying for hype. Has anyone actually found a paid course that was worth the money?

Got lucky with a cheap course myself, unlike the_piper's book.

Honestly, I learned more from a cheap library book on leadership.

Yeah, my buddy Dave found this old book on project management at a yard sale for like a dollar. It was all marked up with notes from some office guy in the 90s. He said those scribbles in the margins about dealing with real people, not just charts, taught him more than his whole expensive college class on the same thing.

So what was it about that specific book that hit different? Was it the way it was written, or did you just find it at the right time when you needed that advice?
